Located in the West End, it was built in 1845 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.〔(National Register of Historic Places in Cumberland County, Maine )〕 The house was originally located approximately a mile to the east of the present location. Faced with demolition in 1971, it was moved further down Spring Street and a Holiday Inn hotel was constructed in the former location.〔 Also contains pre-move 1971 nomination.
